A Black Lives Matter signal in Thousand Oaks was vandalized on at least three separate occasions, including by a sheriff’s office employee and also a district attorney’s office employee, officials said Saturday.
The signal, which consists of a tarp with the letters”BLM” painted on ithas been shown along a weapon on Westlake Boulevard to the past 3 weeks. It removed and has been ruined a few times, as stated by the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, prompting the owner of the sign to place a surveillance camera nearby.
Detectives recognized 60-year-old Darrin Stone — an employee of the Sheriff’s Office because 2005 — in pictures the proprietor posted of this vandalism on the internet. He is also accused of slashing a second time on June 19 to the sign, and stone was caught on camera slashing the sign using a knife June 13, officials said.
Detectives conducted an investigation and issued Stone a misdemeanor citation such as vandalism. He was also placed on paid administrative leave, pending administrative investigation and a criminal, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Stone is a service tech in the Pre-Trial Detention Facility at Ventura, official stated. He had been off-duty in the time of both episodes.
