A new button appearing on Instagram reads, “mute white people.”
The Washington Examiner confirmed the button on Instagram Monday, following a tweet bringing attention to the GIF by conservative commentator Katie Pavlich.
“Instagram has a ‘mute white people’ button in stories,” Pavlich tweeted Monday.
Called the “unbothered sticker,” it was uploaded to online database GIPHY by Refinery29, a media outlet aimed at a female audience, GIPHY’s website shows. GIPHY moderates which GIFs are approved to be shared in its library and, subsequently, platforms, such as Instagram.
“To ensure that GIPHY stickers will always be fun and safe no matter where you see them, we have an enhanced moderation process for approving stickers into our library. This is a permanent part of our moderation process and may impact the turnaround time for uploaded content to appear within the Sticker API (which powers partners such as Instagram),” GIPHY’s website states.
Refinery29 has uploaded more than 500 buttons and GIFs to GIPHY, its profile shows. Some of the GIFs include, “Pay Black Women,” “Reparation$$$,” and “Afro-Latina Magic,” and the outlet has received more than 3 billion views on its GIF uploads.
In March, the Heritage Foundation’s social media manager, Lyndsey Fifield, claimed the Daily Signal’s verified status on GIPHY “mysteriously disappeared” after posting anti-abortion and pro-capitalism GIFs.
“Just hours after tweeting this, our verified status on @GIPHY mysteriously disappeared—stripping our gifs and stickers from the gif banks on Twitter and Instagram. The only pro-life & pro-capitalism gifs on IG. I’m hopeful this was a mistake and that their team will resolve it,” Fifield tweeted after saying one of the GIFs she created garnered 39 million views.
The verified status was reinstated soon after, according to Fifield.
“And they admitted they were wrong and reinstated our account without me taking any action. I replied to their email a month ago and (according to them) they just never checked our account again or saw my email before revoking it today,” she tweeted.
The button comes as a renewed conversation surrounding race has been sparked by the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis on Memorial Day weekend.
In addition to peaceful protests and riots, social media campaigns to fight police brutality and racism have also been launched.
Blackout Tuesday, on June 2, for example, swept across the nation and was intended for social media users within the entertainment industry to remain silent that day in an effort to reflect on the Black Lives Matter movement. Other users shared solid black photos as a way to signify their solidarity with the movement.

Jessica Doty Whitaker was shot and killed following an altercation with Black Lives Matter thugs who had been mad that she and her fiance had said”All Lives Matter” last Sunday.
“According to the victim’s family, the shooting started with a disagreement over Black Lives Issue and language. Eventually both sides separated and walked away from each other, until witnesses assert the killer opened fire in a nearby bridge and then ran away,” Fox 59 reports.
“It was squashed and they went up the mountain and left we believed, but they had been sitting St. Claire awaiting us to come under the bridge and that is when she got shot,” the victim’s fiancé Jose Ramirez told the station.
Her grandfather submitted on Facebook that”multiple black assailants” shot in the mind.
“Why isn’t anyone outraged about this?” He asked at this post. “Is it BLM was included or that it was white young adults who [were] the sufferers?”

Her dad, Robert Doty, told the Gateway Pundit the BLM supporters had walked by her fiance and said”Black Lives Issue,” to which Jessica responded that”All Lives Issue.”
The BLM activists had pulled weapons out throughout the argument, which prompted Ramirez to perform the same. This guide to them backing away, but not for long.
“A debate started and guns came out, but they worked out things. Regrettably, they didn’t shed it and waited for them to walk through and she was shot in the mind,” Doty told TGP.
Doty verified regardless of the murderer being on the loose, that neither CNN nor Fox News has reached out for information about the case.

Her sister Jennifer told TGP they were walking the canal with friends following an”amazing” Fourth of July celebration. She said that Jessica was shot at three times, in leg and the head.
“It’s heartwrenching to watch my mom explain to my three year-old nephew that mommy is a angel in paradise,” Jennifer told TGP, adding”and him inquire when we can go get her and bring her back.”

Jennifer told TGP her sister was a Certified Nursing Assistant getting prepared to go back to college to become a nurse and performing home healthcare.
“Her son was her world, she had the kindest soul and was by no means racist towards anyone,” Jennifer told TGP.
Ramirez claims that the part was explaining to her son Greyson his mom will not come back.
“It’s tough to tell him his mom is in paradise and if you want to talk to her you have to look up and say’I love you mom,”’ said Ramirez.
“We are going through a whole great deal. The 3-year-old boy doesn’t even understand really,” said Ramirez. “I only want justice for Jessica and her son along with her loved ones.”
Police are still looking for suspects and have published a movie in the region of the murder.
A GoFundMe was established to help pay and look after her son.
The Global Opinions Editor for the Washington Post suggested that “white women are lucky that we are just calling them ‘Karen’s’. And not calling for revenge,” in a now-deleted tweet on Sunday. The editor — whose name is Karen Attiah — never clarified what kind of “revenge” she was encouraging.
She also blamed the “lies and tears” of white women for everything from a 1921 race massacre in Tulsa, Oklahoma to voting for President Trump, in screenshots of her tweets posted by the Washington Examiner’s Jerry Dunleavy.
Senator Ted Cruz, R-Texas, slammed Attiah’s words as “sick, bigoted, racist, violent & wrong.”
Others on Twitter interpreted her tweet as a call for race-based violence. Matt Walsh of the Daily Wire asked Attiah to clarify what she meant by “revenge.”
“When that white woman was beaten with two by fours during the riots… is that what you mean by ‘revenge’ or did you have something more fatal in mind?” Walsh tweeted in a reply to Attiah. Attiah refused to respond, instead deleting her original claims.
This also isn’t the first time Attiah has directed critical comments at the generalized audience of white people. On June 17, she tweeted “white people, you guys need to figure this out how to erase the emotional rewards of sadistic pleasure white people have long enjoyed in dominating and destroying black bodies.”
Attiah also appeared in an article on Sunday reacting to the Washington Post’s decision not to submit her work for a Pulitzer Prize and lamenting that the decision “stung.”

FROM FOX NEWS:Greater New York Black Lives Matter president Hawk Newsome joined “The Story” Wednesday to discuss the direction of the movement in the wake of George Floyd’s death in police custody and the subsequent demonstrations across the country, many of which have sparked destruction and violence.
“You … have said that violence is sometimes necessary in these situations,” host Martha MacCallum told Newsome. “What exactly is it that you hope to achieve through violence?”
“Wow, it’s interesting that you would pose that question like that,” Newsome responded, “because this country is built upon violence. What was the American Revolution, what’s our diplomacy across the globe? We go in and we blow up countries and we replace their leaders with leaders who we like. So for any American to accuse us of being violent is extremely hypocritical.”
MacCallum clarified that her question was based off comments she had heard Newsome utter in various interviews.
“I SAID,” NEWSOME TOLD THE HOST, “IF THIS COUNTRY DOESN’T GIVE US WHAT WE WANT, THEN WE WILL BURN DOWN THIS SYSTEM AND REPLACE IT. ALL RIGHT? AND I COULD BE SPEAKING … FIGURATIVELY. I COULD BE SPEAKING LITERALLY. IT’S A MATTER OF INTERPRETATION.
“Let’s observe the history of the 1960s, when black people were rioting,” he went on. “We had the highest growth in wealth, in property ownership. Think about the last few weeks since we started protesting. There have been eight cops fired across the country.”
The interview took a turn after MacCallum read a quote from Martin Luther King Jr. and asked Newsome if he agreed with it.
“Let us be dissatisfied,” King told the Southern Christian Leadership Conference convention in 1967, “until that day when nobody will shout, ‘White power!’, when nobody will shout, ‘Black power!’, but everybody will talk about God’s power and human power.’”
“I love the Lord and my Lord and savior,” Newsome responded to MacCallum’s prompt. “Jesus Christ is the most famous black radical revolutionary in history. And he was treated just like Dr. King. He was arrested on occasion and he was also crucified or assassinated. This is what happens to black activists. We are killed by the government.”

Oregon county issues order Racist against White People. Lincoln County, Oregon, has exempted non-white people from a new order requiring that face coverings be worn in public — to prevent racial profiling.
Health officials announced last week residents must wear face coverings in public settings where they may come within six feet of another individual who is not from the same household.
But people of color do not have to follow the new rule if they have “heightened concerns about racial profiling and harassment” over wearing the masks, officials said.
“No person shall intimidate or harass people who do not comply,” health officials said.

With mask requirements becoming more common, activists have raised concerns that the directives could put non-white people in danger.
“For many black people, deciding whether or not to wear a bandanna in public to protect themselves and others from contracting coronavirus is a lose-lose situation that can result in life-threatening consequences either way,” ReNika Moore, director of the ACLU’s Racial Justice Program, told CNN.

Trevon Logan, who is black, said orders to wear face coverings are “basically telling people to look dangerous given racial stereotypes that are out there.”

“It looks like almost every criminal sketch of any garden-variety black suspect.”
