Over 30 Parliamentarians Call on Trudeau to Sanction Perpetrators of Falun Gong Persecution in China

Over 30 parliamentarians have signed a joint letter to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau urging that Canada sanction Chinese officials for the persecution of Falun Gong adherents in China. The call comes as July 20 marked yet another anniversary of the brutal campaign launched by the Chinese regime against the spiritual practice 22 years ago. “With this anniversary, we, the undersigned, urge the government to condemn the relentless human rights violations of Falun Gong practitioners and call for the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) to end the persecution,” states the letter, issued on July 19. “For 22 years, communist officials in China have carried out a state-sponsored, nationwide campaign of hate propaganda, arbitrary detention, illegal imprisonment, torture, extrajudicial killing, and large-scale organ harvesting targeting the tens of millions of adherents of Falun Gong.” Thirty-five parliamentarians from both sides of the House urged the government to impose sanctions on CCP officials complicit in …
