Outrage Mob Gets Another Scalp: CrossFit CEO Resigns After George Floyd Remarks Led to Gym Owners and Brands to Cut Ties

Fitness owners, brands, athletes and celebrities began abandoning CrossFit after Glassman reportedly said”I do not mourn George Floyd” during a Zoom call.
CrossFit CEO Greg Glassman made the statement several times on Saturday throughout a telephone with gym owners.
Glassman had also joked that it’s”FLOYD-19″ at a tweet reacting to a post in the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation which called racism that a”serious public health problem.”

Glassman insisted on his bills, but it was not sufficient for its outrage mob.
“Ipersonally, CrossFit HQ, and the CrossFit community will not stand for racism. I made a mistake by the words that I chose yesterday,” he wrote about the company’s Twitter account. It ended up being a mistake, maybe not racist but a mistake.”
“I’m stepping down as CEO of CrossFit, Inc., and I have decided to retire,” Glassman said in a declaration. “On Saturday I created a rift at the CrossFit community and unintentionally hurt many of its members.”
Head of the CrossFit Games, dave Castro, is currently taking over as CEO. — NPR reported.
In another announcement, the company explained:”Change is needed. We need healing. Exhaustion and a very lengthy history of grievances are laid bare. We cannot change what’s happened, but we ask for forgiveness while we thoroughly examine ourselves.”
