CCP Removes Books From Libraries as it Strengthens Control

In order to take control of students’ minds to another level, the CCP has started to clean out all the libraries in high schools and in primary schools. More than 100,000 books have been removed with the excuse of them being “illegal” and “inadequate” and they have even been burned. Scholars have pointed out that this is similar to the burning of books in the Cultural Revolution.

Reuters reported that the Ministry of Education called on schools to carry out an “inspection and cleaning program” of books on October 15, 2019. At least 30 provinces have “cleaned” their libraries and removed hundreds of thousands of offending books. Some were even burned.
