Ban on Singing and Dancing Cancels Aussie Summer Music Festivals

The Australian entertainment industry has been dealt another blow with the introduction of new COVID-19 restrictions, which prohibit singing and dancing at outdoor events. The public health order, issued on Tuesday, had already been in place for indoor activities but has now been amended to include outdoor ones. This comes as the state recorded 34,759 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, bringing the total number of known active cases to 333,235. The new restriction means that event organisers must ensure that no one other than musical performers sing or dance at their events, rendering music festivals practically impossible to run.
